When visiting this destination, you should try the ethnic people’s local foods, such as Thang Co, a special food that only exists in the northern area of Vietnam, its taste and smell are a little unique, so many people are unable to try it, despite the fact that it is one of the special foods in this area. Xoi, Mau This food is made from a variety of rice colors; it resembles sticky rice but comes in a variety of colors. Cai Xanh is a type of vegetable grown in the northern area; it is grown throughout Vietnam, but only in Meo Vac.
Things to do in Meo Vac
This upland district has famous attractions that you should not miss on your trip to northern Vietnam, such as the Khau Vai Love Market, which is held only once a year on the 27th March of the lunar month and is the place for the girls and boys whose after are adults and they want to find each other and find the true love to marry for the rest of their lives…
Every time this market is held, a large number of ethnic people from this district area come to participate in this love market, even if they are 20-30 kilometers away, they still come; they can ride a motorcycle or walk from their home to participate in this love market; this market does not involve trading or exchanging goods, it is solely for the love of couples. This is the most well-known love kermis in Vietnam’s northern region.
Aside from the Khau Vai Love Market, you should also visit the Lo Lo Ethnic Village, which has retained its own traditional cultural customs. These are very unique and interesting activities that are not found in other ethnic villages.
Travel to Meo Vac, tourists will have a memorial trip to this ethnic village, enjoy the traditional activities and festivals of the locals here, try local foods that are not available elsewhere, and give gifts to poor children….all of these activities are very worthwhile and meaningful for the tourist.
How to travel to Meo Vac?
Tourists could take a night bus from Hanoi to Ha Giang, then a local bus from Ha Giang to Meo Vac, or they could take a bus directly from Hanoi to Meo Vac through the Ha Giang center. It is approximately 300 kilometers from Hanoi to Ha Giang and approximately 170 kilometers from Ha Giang to Meo Vac, totaling approximately 470 kilometers. From Ha Giang to Meo Vac, you will pass through Dong Van, a well-known upland district of Ha Giang.
