Bac Me overview
Ha Giang is well-known for its breathtaking natural landscapes such as Ma Pi Leng, Lung Cu, and Dong Van… Aside from them, have you heard of Bac Me, a new destination full of interesting things? If your answer is “not yet,” do not forget to learn more about this lovely location.
How to travel to Bac Me?
Bac Me is a district in Ha Giang Province’s east, 56 kilometers from the city’s center. This district is bounded to the east by Bao Lam (Cao Bang), to the south by Na Hang (Tuyen Quang), to the west by Vi Xuyen (Ha Giang), and to the north by Yen Minh (Ha Giang). Bac Me is divided into two distinct ecological subregions: high mountain and lowland. This is the home of 13 ethnic minorities, including the Dao, Tay, and Mong. Bac Me has become a fascinating destination with unique cultural values and a distinct identity due to the diversity of people who live here.
Roads to Bac Me are quite narrow, steep, and bumpy. This district lacks the magnificent terraces of Hoang Su Phi, the vibrant markets of Sa Phin, and the majestic landscapes of Dong Van or Meo Vac. However, with its vast space and enticing scenery, it is always appealing in its own right.
The fact, getting to Bac Me is difficult, whether by bus or motorcycle. The reason for this is that the road system has not yet been significantly improved. Rugged, slick roads and winding mountain trails await those who wish to explore this rural district. But once you arrive in Bac Me, you will not be disappointed by the beauty of the land. Along the trails, you may be able to admire the beauty of terraces or mighty mountains, as well as the rustic lifestyle of the locals.
Things to do in Bac Me
Tourists can see a lake hidden in the mountains on the right side of the slope leading to Bac Me District. The green color of the water and the surrounding forest; steep mountains, lush trees, a wooden boat on the lake… all of these elements combine to create a beautiful scene.
Some tourism services are available in this area to meet visitor demand. A cooperative and 20 family households provide boats that ferry tourists around the lake. Within 3 hours, travelers can reach the Na Hang hydropower reservoir in Tuyen Quang Province. Tourists will have the opportunity to see the magnificent beauty of nature along the way. They can also take a tour to visit Bac Me’s old town, the French colonial-era Bac Me Prison, or Cao Bang Town (150 kilometers from Bac Me)…
Bac Me has recently become a tourist attraction in Ha Giang Province due to its natural ecological space, natural and cultural resources, traditional customs, and habits. This is also the location for the preservation of traditional crafts such as brocade weaving and cooking wine…These types are being developed to create beautiful products that vary in type, color, and pattern… so that visitors can purchase them as lovely souvenirs. If you come here, don’t forget to try the local specialties, especially “com lam” (rice cooked in bamboo tubes), which is a popular dish in this area. This dish, served with grilled fish, will undoubtedly make an impression on visitors.
Beautiful scenery, distinct people cultures, friendly locals, and delectable local cuisine are all reasons why you should visit this location at least once in your lifetime. I am confident that you will have a memorable vacation in Bac Me, a must-see destination in Ha Giang Province. Prepare to have fun as you discover Bac Me!
