Phong Nha Cave overview

Belong to the limestone mountainous region of Ke Bang’s Bo Trach District in Quang Binh province. Phong Nha Cave, located approximately 50 kilometers from Dong Hoi City, is considered Vietnam’s most beautiful cave, it is protected by tropical forests.

This is the most typical cave in terms of aesthetic value and is unique in Phong Nha – Ke Bang Heritage, which is regarded as one of the most beautiful caves in the world.

Best time to visit the cave

The best time to visit Phong Nha is from March to August when the temperature ranges from 28 to 32 degrees Celsius and the greenery is beautiful, and the waters are crystal clear and turquoise, making Phong Nha very picturesque.

How to travel to Phong Nha Cave?

You can get to Dong Hoi Airport in Quang Binh via short and daily flights from Hanoi (Vietnam’s capital) or Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam’s largest city), or via weekly flights from Chiang Mai, Thailand. This unique cave is about 50 kilometers from Dong Hoi airport, and it is also easy to take a bus from Dong Hoi city to Phong Nha after taking a train from one of Vietnam’s major cities, such as Ninh Binh and Hanoi in the north, Hue and Danang (Hoi An) in the center, and Ho Chi Minh City in the south.

Things to do in the cave

Take a boat from the Son River for about 30 minutes to this cave where you will begin to see the charming mountainous landscape and the mighty nature, as well as a lot of particularly interesting images to excite tourists’ imaginations in Phong Nha.

You can also take a full-day trip from Hue to this site or stay overnight in Quang Binh before moving on to another location after visiting Phong Nha.
