Ethnology Museum overview
The Ethnology Museum is also known as the Ethnic Museum, is an extensive display of Vietnam’s 54 ethnic minority peoples.
The museum displays an insight into 54 different ethnic groups of the Vietnamese. There are many real models of its own ethnic groups, for example, there are big, long, and tall houses for H’Mong people, Tay people, and Dao people. These houses are designed and done exactly the same as the houses of the ethnic locals. So, you could even enter, sit, and relax in these models’ houses on your trip here.
The Ethnic Museum is located in the center of Hanoi, and it is one of the most worthwhile museums. So, you should not miss this site in your itinerary because it is suitable for both adults and children. It is also one of the most popular sites that you should not miss on your trip to Hanoi, Vietnam’s capital.
Best Things to Do in the Museum of Ethnology
The Ethnology Museum is also one of the places where many different activities for important Vietnamese festivals, such as the mid-autumn festival – August 15th (lunar), International Children’s Day – June 1st, and Christmas Day, are organized.
Arriving here during the festivals, tourists will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of fun and traditional Vietnamese activities as well as ethnic games such as Nem Con (throwing a small ball from this person to the other person in the different two teams), jumping rope, roping the flag…..all of these traditional games can be played by adults and children.
Every weekend, the museum offers a free Water Puppet Show for tourists to see, and this water puppet show is organized in a small pond, it is very fun and interesting for both children and adults.
Ethnology Museum is very large, so there are many big trees and cool places for tourists to relax at anytime, or sometimes there are many tourists who prefer to relax in the symble houses here to image about the removal areas of Vietnam if they do not have a chance to go to the mountainous and removed areas of Vietnam.
In front of the Ethnology Museum is a park where you can take your children, so if your family has children who enjoy exploring, the Ethnology Museum is ideal.
The Ethnic Museum travel guide
The ticket to enter the Ethnology Museum is about 40-60.000 VND (depending). Inside the museum, it is available a very famous restaurant Hoa Sua Restaurant, which is very convenient for tourists to try the local food of Vietnam, this restaurant offers almost special Vietnamese food as well as a variety of drinks and ice-creams for you to try.
It is very easy and convenient for you to visit Ethnology Museum directly by yourself during your stay in Hanoi, as you can ride a bike, cyclo or motorbike (xe om), or taxi to get there, and it is also very close to any hotel in Hanoi, so you should not miss visiting Ethnology Museum once you travel Hanoi and sights must-see in northern Vietnam.
