Rabbit Island overview

Rabbit Island, also known as Koh Tonsay Island, is the largest and most pristine island in Kep, Cambodia’s famous coastal city in the 1960s. This island, along with other well-known tourist spots, is assisting in restoring Kep’s original position on the Cambodian tourism map. Let’s see what this island has to offer both domestic and international visitors!

Best time to visit Rabbit Island

The months of November to January are the coolest. If you go between February and April, it will be hot, dry, and dusty. From May to October, the weather is humid, damp, and rainy. As a result, you can visit the wonderful coastal town during the chilly winter months by planning a trip around Christmas and New Year’s.

Best things to do on Rabbit Island

The shape of the island is similar to that of a rabbit, with a total area of about 2 km2. Because of its quiet and tranquility, Rabbit Island has been described as a Cambodian jewel. There are a few cottages, bungalows, hostels, and restaurants on the island.

After a half-hour wait on the boat, tourists can explore Rabbit Island, which is lush with trees and coconut groves along the beach, or magnificent bungalows… All of this contributes to a tranquil setting. The island has magnificent white sandy beaches with turquoise waters and no waves because it is shielded by neighboring islands. Swimming is great because the sea is shallow and not too steep. Divers can encounter schools of colorful fish despite the lack of reefs.

Seafood is particularly appealing on this island. The seafood is plentiful and fresh. Crabs, fish, and shrimp are prepared in a delectable manner, making them both visually appealing and edible. It is not an exaggeration to suggest that eating seafood is a must-do when visiting Rabbit Island.

The lodgings are made of palm leaves and lack air conditioning, fans, and power. Only two mattresses, a blanket, a bathroom, and a hammock are provided. Everything appears to blend in with its surroundings. The whole atmosphere is pleasant and serene. There will be no additional traffic, stores, or noise, allowing you to truly relax. In some respects, this is a retreat for those seeking to escape the demands of contemporary life.

When the generators are turned off at night, visitors can relax on the hammock, listen to the sound of the water, gaze at the moon and stars, and take in the fresh air of the isolated island.

Enjoying the freshness of the morning on the island while learning about the life of a fisherman is a terrific idea. Imagine catching fish while also hearing birds sing… That’s wonderful! Rabbit Island will aggressively develop tourism services in the near future using existing resources. As a result, if you appreciate nature and want to live in the country, you should visit this island as soon as possible (before its peace and quiet are destroyed).

There’s also no need to worry about your budget because the servicing expenses are inexpensive (5-7 USD/bungalow). This is why many tourists from Europe, the United States, and Australia choose Rabbit Island for their vacation.

This island is thought to offer the nicest beaches in the Kep area. Beautiful scenery, tasty seafood, and outstanding tourism services are just a few of the reasons I recommend spending your summer on Rabbit Island. Don’t miss out on this intriguing holiday if you have the opportunity to visit Kep and Kampot City!
