The Silver Pagoda overview

The Silver Pagoda, also known as Wat Preah Keo Morokat, is located in the Royal Palace complex in the center of Cambodia‘s capital, Phnom Penh.

The pagoda was built in 1962 and is known as the Silver Pagoda because it contains 5329 pieces of silver, each of which was handcrafted and weighs 1,125g.

The pagoda houses many religious treasures, including over 1650 precious items. It is one of Cambodia’s most famous pagodas, so you should dress appropriately when visiting this pagoda. It is not permitted for tourists to wear shorts while taking photographs or filming here as well.

Pictures from the Reamker epic are displayed on the surrounding walls of a Silver pagoda in particular. Aside from that, the pagoda has a small library located near the central chamber, which houses the classic Tripitaka Pali. In front of the pagoda is a statue of Norodom King (1834-1904), the king riding a horse…

The murals of the Reamker were painted in 1903-1904 by Cambodian artists under the direction of the Silver Pagoda’s architect, Oknha Tep Nimit Mak, on the wall that surrounds the structures. The legend of Preah Ko Preah Keo is commemorated by two statues.

Travel to this special historical site, you will have a chance to see many of the statues which are made of real gold, silver, and diamond….they are very precious and beautiful.
