Surprise Cave overview
Surprise Cave, also known as Sung Sot Cave, locates in the heart of Halong Bay’s world heritage site. The cave belongs to Bo Hon island, and it is the largest and most beautiful cave in Halong Bay.
This area also contains many islands with unique images that cannot be found anywhere else. Especially when you go up the case, you go through the green leaves with the weather is very cool, so that even though the tourist must step through the ladder by stones, you will not feel tired because the landscape is very impressive and interesting for you.
Surprise Cave’s features
The French discovered the cave in 1901, the cave mouth is about 25 meters above sea level and is covered in green leaves, from the cave gate, tourists can see a quiet sea zone surrounded by Bo Hon mountain, and about 1 km away from Surprise Cave are many small mountains.
There are many boats concentrated as floating villages in this sea zone, which is surrounded by beautiful caves and islands such as Bo Nau Cave, Me Cung Cave, Luon Cave, Ti Top Island, and Dau Nguoi Cave.
Surprise Cave, which is also the same as its own name, makes tourists feel very surprised when they visit it, it is a unique karst cave with high scientific value.
Exploring Surprise Cave, tourists appear to have the impression that they are viewing a painting that has been painted by nature for thousands of years.
It is not difficult for tourists to trek inside this cave because there is a 500m-long stone-paved road system from the cave gate to the exit. Two lampposts locate on opposite sides of the road, these lampposts are not only decorative and illuminated, but they also serve as road markers.
Almost all Halong Bay tours include Surprise Cave because it is the most beautiful and unique cave in Halong Bay.
