The months of October to August are ideal for trekking in this lake, with temperatures ranging from 10°C to 25°C.
The best time to see the rice fields is between April and May.
Swimming and kayaking are most enjoyable between June and August when temperatures range from 20°C to 32°C.

It is about 230 kilometers from Hanoi to Ba Be Lake and private transfers or local buses are the best ways to get to the lake (buses to the lake from Hanoi depart from My Dinh Bus Station). Riding a motorcycle to Ba Be Lake is also an option for adventurous travelers.
