Cai Be Floating Market overview

Cai Be Floating Market is in Vinh Long Province, about two hours by bus from Ho Chi Minh City. Every morning, the locals in this small town conduct business on their small boats at this market.

Things to do in Cai Be Floating Market

Take a boat trip to Cai Be, one of the three largest floating markets in the southwestern region, which is bounded by three provinces: Tien Giang, Ben Tre, and Vinh Long. The best way to try and enjoy the freshest fruits from the locals’ fruit gardens is to explore the market. You can purchase these fruits or visit these gardens to sample these fresh fruits for a reasonable price.

Apart from selling various types of fresh fruits on the small boats in this floating market, the locals also sell traditional crafts and vegetables….on their colorful and plentiful boats. This market is one of the most well-known floating markets on the Mekong River, it is only organized very early in the morning, finishing around 10 a.m. every morning.

The fruit area is the busiest in Cai Be Floating Market, it stretches for kilometers along Tan Long Island. To buy and trade goods, boats travel from cities and provinces such as Ho Chi Minh City, Long An Province, An Giang Province, Can Tho City, and Ca Mau Province. All boats take a variety of fruits in the early morning, including rambutan, mango, durian, and watermelon.

Aside from the boats that carry a variety of fruits, there are also small boats that serve and sell rice, noodles, and other miscellaneous goods….so tourists can directly try the local cuisine while sitting and rowing on the boats.
