Vinh Moc Tunnel history

The tunnel was built to allow Vinh Linh District people to stay and fight the battle.

With a very difficult way of life, such as a persistent lack of light and food, as well as being wet in the winter and hot in the summer, sanitation is not assured… causing the people who lived beneath Vinh Moc Tunnel to suffer from a variety of maladies affecting the eyes, skin, and bond…..

People who lived beneath the tunnels only went outside or up to the earth’s surface when absolutely necessary; otherwise, they hid beneath the tunnels to avoid war. There were 17 infants born in these Tunnels between 1965 and 1972.

The tunnel has three levels:
The first floor is 12m deep and has been used for daily life.
The second floor is 15 meters above ground and has housed weaponry, food, and important meetings.
The bomb was avoided by using the third and last floor, which is 23 meters deep.
