Son La overview

Son La is a highland province in northwest Vietnam. When you arrive in this region, you will have the opportunity to enjoy the tremendous mountain scenery and the unique culture of the ethnic groups in this northwest part of Vietnam, such as the impressive stretched clothes and sipping the local traditional wine…

It is on National Highway 6, about 320 kilometers from Hanoi. This province has three border crossings with Laos: the international border crossings of Chieng Khuong and Pa Hang, as well as the national border crossing of Na Cai. It is around 600-700 meters above sea level.

This is a lovely Vietnamese town tucked away among the mountains. It has a dreadful history because it formerly housed one of the world’s most heinous prisons. Only the ruins and a tiny village remain, with ghosts of its past concealed beneath its natural rivers, trees, and flowers.

Best time to visit Son La

You can visit this highland province at any time of year because each month has its own beauty, such as in September when it is time for the Mong people’s Tet Festival, which is the most important and largest event of the Mong people, and it is a very fun and interesting festival that you should not miss, and you should also participate in order to feel the true custom of an ethnic group is the Mong people.

The numerous species of flowers in Moc Chau Highland a rural district of the province, are blown during the month of November. You may try having a swim in one of Thailand’s ethnic villages’ warm springs this winter.
