Cao Bang overview
Cao Bang is a mountainous province in northeastern Vietnam with stunning scenery of mountains, forests, rivers, and springs that run the length of the province.
This is particularly famous for the Ban Gioc waterfall, which is the largest natural waterfall in Southeast Asia and one of the most beautiful waterfalls in the world.
Best time to visit Cao Bang
With a cool climate all year, it is possible to visit this place at any time of year, however, to experience the most beautiful nature with forests, mountains, and waterfalls, it is best to visit this mountainous site from October to April when the temperature ranges from 20°C – 25°C,
The best time to see the snow-capped mountains in Phia Oac National Park is from November to January when temperatures can drop below zero degrees Celsius.
How to travel to Cao Bang?
It is approximately 280 kilometers by bus from Hanoi to Cao Bang, and the best way to reach Cao Bang is by private transfer or local bus (buses for Cao Bang from Hanoi depart from My Dinh Bus Station), riding a motorcycle to Cao Bang is also an ideal option for adventurous travelers.
Things to do in Ha Giang
1. Explore Ban Gioc Waterfalls, Southeast Asia’s largest natural waterfall, the falls are 300 meters wide despite being only 30 meters tall. A smaller waterfall, to the left of the larger one, is overshadowed by its larger sibling but is no less beautiful.
2. Visit Phia Oac National Park in the winter to see snow and white frost.
3. Pac Po Relic, or one of the places where Ho Chi Minh (Uncle Ho) lived and worked.
4. Visit Thang Hen Lake, which includes 36 small natural lakes surrounded by mountains at an elevation of 1000 meters. The lakes formed as a result of limestone formations.
5. Visit Bao Lac village to learn more about the local minority cultures in Vietnam’s northern mountainous region.
6. You should not miss visiting Me Pja Pass.
7. Take a short trip to Nui Thung Mountain, which is only accessible by a small road and opens up like a hidden valley, with mountains, jungle, plains, and a lake that reflects the Angel Eye.
8. Phong Nam Valley, where you can take breathtaking photos.
