Mac Dynasty Citadel Overview
The Mac Dynasty Citadel is located in the Tam Thanh District of Lang Son City (this is a very famous historical site that is nearby Cao Bang Province which is one of the most famous provinces in northern Vietnam).
This is a historical relic with military architecture that depicts Vietnamese feudalism from the end of the 16th century to the middle of the 16th century.
Mac Kinh Cung built the Mac Dynasty Citadel to fight the Le – Trinh Dynasty, and it is an important military foundation for stopping the unique road that connects the North and South.
Mac Dynasty Citadel’s features
This citadel was built on the position of three 10m high mountain tops, among which are mountains such as To Thi, Lo Cot, and Mac Kinh Cung in the past built the parts of the citadel, surround a 10,000 m2 empty and flat wasteland.
This citadel now consists of two walls approximately 300 meters long, a citadel face approximately 1 meter wide, and was built with large and large cubic meters of stone to be located between two canyons.
The northern wall is 65m long and 4m high, with large entrance and exit gates. The eastern wall also has seven gates and fifteen loopholes for entry and exit. Molasses and bee honey hold the large cubic meter of stone together.
Mac Dynasty Citadel is relied on To Thi mountain, it is located in the relic complex to discover and serve the tourist. The Mac Dynasty Citadel was designated as a national historical relic in 1962.
Since 2010, the citadel has been invested in, repaired, and opened to the public. The tourist can climb over 100 steps from the bottom of the mountain to the top and get a bird’s-eye view of the surrounding mighty mountains.
Despite the fact that the Mac Dynasty Citadel has been embellished and repaired numerous times, a large portion of its length is still covered by trees. A panoramic view of Lang Son can be seen from the top of the Mac Dynasty Citadel, which is both beautiful and powerful.

How to travel to Mac Dynasty Citadel?
It is only about 200 kilometers long and takes about four hours to get there by bus. You can take a local bus from Hanoi to Lang Son, or many visitors ride a motorbike from Hanoi’s central business district to Lang Son.
The road from Hanoi to Mac Dynasty Citadel is not difficult to take by bus or motorbike, and this historical site is one of the most important historical relics of Vietnam, so if you are a tourist who prefers to explore the different Vietnamese dynasties, then do not miss this sight once you travel Hanoi or travel the northern of Vietnam because Mac Dynasty Citadel is very special and meaning with all Vietnamese.
