Vietnam Fine Arts Museum is considered one of the most important national museums in preserving and improving the art and cultural relic treasures of Vietnamese ethnic groups. When visiting the museum, visitors will have the opportunity to learn about the developed processing of Vietnamese fine art history through the museum’s collections, documents, and exhibits.

The history and features of the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum

According to history, this Museum was built during the French dominance of the twentieth century, and its first function was simply to house the girls of French officials from Indochina who came to learn in Hanoi.

After 1945, this house was used for a variety of purposes. Since 1962, this structure has been repaired to serve as a repository for collections, displaying and reserving special artworks from Vietnam’s prehistory to the present.

As a result, the architecture of this museum has been changed from a Western-style to a collection of Vietnamese architecture to accommodate the new function.

Vietnam Fine Arts Museum opened in 1966 to welcome tourists, with a total area of 4200m2 width and a display area of 1200m2. Between 1997 and 1999, the museum was expanded to 4737m2 and displayed over 3000m2.

The collections are displayed in the museum to be introduced by the historical processing, kinds, and material to show the special values of the fine art historical periods, making it easier for tourists to see and compare, with over 2000 fixed exhibits displayed with subjects such as fine art from prehistory, fine art from 11th to 19th century, fine art from 20th century so far, traditional fine art, folk fine art, Vietnamese art ceramics from 11th century to 20 century included the ceramics that were gotten from the ancient boats.
