Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum overview

Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, also known as President Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum or Uncle Ho Mausoleum, is where President Ho Chi Minh’s body is interred. This special site was begun on September 2, 1973, and completed on August 29, 1975. The mausoleum has three layers and weighs 21,6m. This unique location is in the heart of Ba Dinh Square, and it is also where Uncle Ho read the Declaration of Independence on September 2nd, 1945.

Every week, over 15.000 tourists visit the mausoleum, as well as many locals from all provinces throughout Vietnam and high groups who come to visit the mausoleum on public holidays and important dates in Vietnam.

The mausoleum is open in the mornings on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays. It is open from 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. from April 1st to October 31st during the summer. It is open from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. from November 1st to March 31st of the following year.

On Saturday and Sunday, it is open for an additional 30 minutes. Every year, it is closed for repairs for two months in October and November. On the 19th of May, the 2nd of September, and the 1st of Tet (New Year), if these special dates fall on a Monday or a Friday, a tribute to President Ho Chi Minh is organized.

Visiting this site is free, but tourists must follow special instructions such as wearing long clothes, not bringing phones, cameras, or food, and remaining silent in the mausoleum…
