Hoi An overview

Choosing a UNESCO World Heritage Site is a natural choice on any trip, Hoi An is a delight for the senses, and having HOI AN as a choice in Vietnam makes it very easy to add it to your itinerary.

How to travel to Hoi An?

Hoi An is only about a 45min drive from Danang with Danang international airport (a 50min flight from Nha Trang beach city), a 1hr drive from My Son Holy Land “Angkor Wat of Vietnam”, 3hrs drive from Hue the ancient capital of Vietnam.

Best time to visit Hoi An

The best time to visit Hoi An is between February and June when temperatures range between 20 and 30 degrees Celsius. From July to September, it is extremely hot but ideal for beach vacations. Traveling to Hoi An from October to January is risky because of the bad weather, which causes heavy rain and flooding.

What are the best things to do in Hoi An?

The first things you notice are the ancient tiled rooftops and a variety of colorful flowers. Later you realize why Hoi An is called “The City of Lights”. At dusk, hundreds of elegant silk lanterns are lit on the river of the old town near the Japanese Covered Bridge. The lantern light reflected off the buildings is quite stunning. Pedestrian-friendly streets offer a variety of tailor-made clothing shops, art galleries, bars, cafes, street food, and restaurants with many local specialties. Hoi An has over 800 historic buildings, including temples, Buddhist shrines, and French colonial houses.

In addition to enjoying the architecture of the old town, it is equally fun to experience a basket boat for the first time and attend a cooking class in a local village. You can also ride a bike through the surrounding countryside of Hoi An and see farm animals, ancient cemeteries, or some of the most outstanding beaches in all central Vietnam. At An Bang Beach, named by CNN in 2016 as one of the Top 100 Best Beaches in the World, you can walk along the lengthy sandy shore, join a yoga class, or relax on a hammock, happy to have chosen Hoi An as a destination.
