Day 1: Yangon Arrival – Pick up & Check in hotel – Tour

Arrive at Yangon International Airport, where you will be met by your English-speaking local tour guide and transferred to your hotel. (If the room is not ready, explore Yangon.) After refueling at the hotel, stroll through downtown Yangon, where most of the colonial buildings, such as the city hall, Mahabandoola Park, the high court, and the telegraphic office, add to the city’s elegant beauty. Visit the Strand Hotel to feel the warmth and atmosphere of a bygone era. Continue your journey to the Pansoedan jetty, which serves the locals who live on the other side of the Yangon River. This evening, Visit the magnificent Shwedagon Pagoda, made famous by Rudyard Kipling and one of Myanmar’s holiest sites, this evening. The massive bell-shaped stupa is gold-plated, and its tip is set with diamonds, rubies, sapphires, and topaz – a stunning sight as the sun sets, and an appropriate place to start our journey in this “Golden Land.” Return to your Yangon hotel after visiting the Shwedagon Pagoda and spend the night.

Day 2: Yangon – Bagan

We’re off to the airport this morning to catch an early flight to Bagan. Check into your hotel and then go on a sightseeing tour of the Bagan Archaeological Zone World Heritage Area. A comprehensive tour of Bagan includes the NyaungOo market, Shwezigon Pagoda, the prototype for later Myanmar stupas, KyansitthaUmin, Wet-Kyi-inn Gubyaukgyi Temple with exquisite 13th-century mural painting, and Htilominlo Temple. After visiting lacquer ware workshops, proceed to Manuha Temple, built by exile King Manuha; Nanphaya said to have been King Manuha’s residence; Ananda Temple, an architectural masterpiece; and Oak-Kyaung monastery, decorated with multi-color mural paintings. Enjoy the breathtaking sunset from one of Bagan’s temples.

Day 3: Kalaw – Pindaya by Bike

Today, we travel north to Pindaya along a road flanked by beautifully manicured fields, from which much of Myanmar’s product is derived. Lunch in Pindaya, then a short rest in the hotel. We’ll go to the Buddha-image-filled Pindaya cave before dinner.

Day 4: Pindaya – Heho – Inle Lake – Boat Trip

Today we travel north to Pindaya on a road flanked by beautifully manicured fields where much of Myanmar’s product is grown. Lunch in Pindaya, then some downtime in the hotel. We’ll stop by the Buddha-image-filled Pindaya cave before dinner.

Day 5: Inle Lake

Today we travel north to Pindaya along a road flanked by beautifully manicured fields, from which much of Myanmar’s product is derived. Lunch in Pindaya, followed by some downtime at the hotel. We will go to the Buddha-image-filled Pindaya cave before dinner.

Day 6: Inle Lake Boat Trip

After breakfast at the hotel, we will go on a boat trip to Inle Lake. We will visit floating plantations and gardens, villages with leg rowing in the people, traditional finishing methods, a one-of-a-kind lotus yarn production, a handloom weaving cottage with its own showroom, blacksmith and cheroot-making industries, and so on. You will visit the Jumping Cat monastery and the Phaungdawoo Pagoda, which houses the five most revered Buddha Images in the southern Shan State.

Day 7: Inle Lake – Heho – Fly to Yangon

After breakfast, go to a market location that changes every five days. Continue our journey by motorized boat to the Indein pagoda complex in the lake’s southwest corner. The boat leaves the lake and travels through a narrow canal with a beautiful natural setting to a small Pa O tribe village. Follow an old covered path from the village to a 13th-century monastery and the very impressive ruins of hundreds of ancient pagodas, some hidden in the vegetation. The main stupa area at the top of the hill provides breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains as well as down to the valley and the lake in the distance. Transfer to the airport in the afternoon and fly back to Yangon. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel and overnight at the hotel in Yangon.

Day 8: Yangon – Departure

If your flight is in the morning, you will be driven to the airport for your return flight.
Visit Karaweik, a royal barge, for fantastic photo opportunities along the “pilgrims” causeway across the Royal Lake with stunning views of Schwedagon Pagoda, and visit Bogyoke Aung San (Scott) market, famous for its colonial architecture and inner cobblestone streets, for afternoon or evening flight departures. It is one of Yangon’s major bazaars and was built by the British in 1926. There, you can buy anything from a simple Myanmar slipper to a jewelry crown. Transfer to the airport in the afternoon for your return flight.
