Detailed Itinerary

 

Day 1: Yangon arrival – Pick up & Check in hotel – Tour

Upon arrival in Yangon, formerly known as Rangoon, you will be met by your local personal tour guide and transferred to your beautiful hotel to check-in. Take a short break before the afternoon walking tour of Yangon City to enjoy a walk through Chinatown, where you will find various displays illustrating Myanmar’s culture, language, religion, people, history, and glory. Then proceed to Sinohedan Harbor to get a taste of the reality of local people and ways of life while watching the sunset from the riverbank.

Day 2: Yangon Tour – Circular Train Ride

Today, after breakfast, we will begin exploring the highlights of Yangon, including the Shwedagon Pagoda, one of the world’s most spectacular religious structures, and the golden dome to learn about local customs and beliefs, visit the Kalaywa Tawya Monastery, where over 1000 monks and nuns study Buddhist scriptures and modern academic studies. Afterward, proceed to Chaukhtatgyi Pagoda (the 72-meter-long reclining Buddha Statue) and have lunch at the local restaurant.

In the afternoon, we will take a city circular train ride to experience the reality of Yangon’s suburbs, you will first be transferred to Yangon Central Railway Station, which was built in 1954 using Burmese traditional architectural styles, then take a one-hour train ride through Yangon’s outskirts, you are to disembark at Insein Train Station, meet your driver, and drive back to the hotel.

Day 3: Yangon – Fly Heho/Bagan (a 1hr flight) – Tour

Breakfast at the hotel, then transfer to the airport for your flight to Bagan, the city has the most temples, pagodas, stupas, and ruins of any city in the world, is one of Myanmar’s most culturally significant cities, as well as its main Buddhist center.

We will begin our tour of the city upon arrival at Nyaung U International Airport. To begin, we will go to the Nyaung Oo Market to witness the wonderful moments of daily life and interactions between people. Following that, a visit to Shwezigon pagoda, a 1,000-year-old Buddhist stupa whose gleaming golden bell-shaped dome served as a model for pagodas throughout Burma, then proceeds to Htilominlo Temple, a large majestic structure towering 46 meters high, a brick structure that was originally plastered with white stucco, some of which is still in place. We also visit Ananda temple, one of Bagan’s best-known and most beautiful and symmetrical structures with the layout of a Greek cross, before taking a lunch break at a good local restaurant and checking in at the hotel for a refreshing and relaxing afternoon sightseeing.

Afternoon sightseeing begins around 15:30 and includes a horse-drawn carriage ride through ancient religious monuments such as Pahtothamya Temple, one of Bagan’s oldest temples built at the end of the 10th century, and Thabyinnyu Temple, with a height of just over 60 meters, the Thatbyinnyu Temple is one of Bagan’s highest monuments. Next, visit Dhammanyangy, the largest temple on Bagan’s plains, from a distance, it resembles Egypt’s early step pyramids. Then visit the Sulamani Temple, a large, very elegant multi-story structure from the late Bagan period, before watching the sunset from Pyathatgyi, one of the few remaining “double cave” monasteries.

Day 4: Morning Balloon Ride & Bagan – Popa by Car

We are to be ready early in the morning, well before dawn, to be picked up by a representative from Balloon Over Bagan and fly over Myanmar’s Archeological Treasure “Glorious Bagan”, this is a grand indulgence, but Bagan is one of the world’s seven wonders, along with Angkor in Cambodia and Borobudur in Indonesia. Bagan is simply massive, covering nearly 70 square kilometers, and if the weather cooperates, there is simply no better way to photograph its mind-boggling scale or capture its dreamlike mood, we return to the hotel for breakfast.

After breakfast, an excursion to the enchanting Mt. Popa, a great extinct volcano situated about 67 km, takes an hour’s drive from southeast of Bagan via Kyaukpadaung. Mt. Popa, standing out as a green-clad landmark in the Dry Zone, is situated 15,00 meters high and is an extinct volcano. The tour highlights toddy palm groves and jaggery cottage industry,  and the famous Popa Taungkalat, a tower-like volcanic plug lying on the south-western slope of Mt. Popa, then enjoy the scenic view of its surroundings from Popa Mountain Resort. Return to the hotel.

Day 5: Bagan – Paukan Cruise (River Cruising)

After breakfast, check out of the hotel and depart Bagan around noon on the beautiful RV Pandaw river cruiser, a replica of a colonial river steamer with all the comforts and service associated with this bygone era. Enjoy watching the river slip by as you lunch in the elegant dining room and then relax on deck as you cruise the river pulling into the bank for the night on board. Day 7: RV Paukan Cruise – Mandalay Tour

This morning enjoy breakfast on board and arrive at Mandalay around 10 am, we take a sightseeing tour of Mandalay which includes Mahanumi, a life-like Buddha image, visit a gold leaf-making center to see the gold leaf still being made by hand, marble sculpture and tapestry workshops then take a lunch break and check in the hotel to have a rest before afternoon sightseeing.

In the afternoon visit the Old Palace grounds, Kuthodaw Pagoda, known as the world’s largest book for its 729 marble slabs inscribed with the Buddha’s Doctrine, Golden Palace Monastery, noted for its exquisite wood carvings, Atumashi Monastery, and Kyauktawgyi Pagoda, where a huge image is carved out of a single block of marble. At sunset enjoy the panoramic view of the city from Mandalay Hill. Drive back to the hotel.

Day 8: Mandalay – Fly to Heho (a 1hr flight) – Inle Lake Boat Trip

After breakfast at the hotel, you will be transferred to Mandalay International Airport for your flight to Heho. Upon arrival at Heho airport, a scenic one-hour drive leads to Nyaung Shwe, the major gateway to Inle Lake, on the way to Nyaung Shwe, we visit Shwe Yan Pyay Wooden Monastery, which dates back more than 140 years.

Then, transfer directly to a boat stand in Nyaung Shawe and board a private motorboat to head out to Inle Lake, one of Myanmar’s most spectacular sights, passing villages built on stilts over the lake and inhabited by the local Intha people, observe the unusual leg-rowing fishermen and their floating gardens made of water hyacinth, bottomed lake weed, marsh, and mud anchored to the lake’s bottom with a bamboo pole. Take a break for lunch at a restaurant in Inle Lake.

Afternoon excursions will include the weaving village of Inpawkhone and the Cherrot factory, where traditional Burmese hand-rolled cigars are made, visit the Pahang Daw Oo Pagoda, the lake’s main sanctuary, which contains five sacred Buddha images covered in gold leaf, followed by a visit to Nga Hpe Chaung Monastery, which houses dozens of Shan Buddha images but is also popularly known as the “Jumping Cats” monastery. After that, take a boat ride around the floating garden areas of Inle Lake, where seasonal vegetables are grown. Then transfer to hotel for overnight.

Day 9: Inle – Indein Boat Trip

After breakfast, excursion to Inn Dein village by driving along the narrow creek which might take approximately 45 minutes from your hotel jetty then embark and walk to the Shwe Inn Dein pagoda complex through the bamboo groove, here, you will see the ruined Shan-style stupas which were abandoned and forgotten for decades, and those relics and images were stolen, ruined, or destroyed. Lunch break at Indein until transfer you back to the hotel and enjoy the rest of your day is free. Overnight stay at Inle Lake.

Day 10: Inle/Heho – Fly to Nagapali Beach (a 1hr flight)

After nine days of sightseeing, it is time to relax! This morning fly to Sandoway ( Thandwe ) the city of Nagapali Beach and transfer to your hotel, the rest time is free on the pristine, white sand beach, cool off in crystal clear water, or enjoy the luxury of a massage. In the evening dinner is served on the beach for a perfect end to your day! Overnight stay in Ngapali Beach.
