Thien Cung Grotto overview
Thien Cung Grotto is located to the north of Dau Go Island, and it is also close to Dau Go Grotto in Halong Bay.
This site is approximately 4 kilometers south of the port, and it is one of Halong Bay’s most beautiful caves. It is very large and has many different stalactites and stalagmites.
Thien Cung Grotto is approximately 10.000m2 in width and 25m in height. This grotto has a complex structure with many levels and separations.
Particularly, there are a lot of stalagmites everywhere inside this grotto, which is very nice and strange, and these features have inspired many legends about Thien Cung Grotto Halong Bay.
These are the reasons why this unique natural site is one of the highlights of a day trip or two or three days on a boat cruise when visiting Halong Bay.
Thien Cung Grotto’s legend
Although humans had previously explored Thien Cung Cave, the jungle had grown over the cave’s mouth in recent years, and locals had long forgotten how to find it. The cave, on the other hand, was always remembered in stories passed down through generations.
According to legend, Thien Cung Cave was once home to a Dragon King and his Queen. The Dragon King and Queen married in the heart of the cave. With all manner of magical and mythical creatures in attendance. They had 100 children after their marriage and lived in the cave while the King protected the people of Halong Bay from invaders. When their 100 children reached adulthood, half remained in Halong Bay as guardians and protectors, while the other half left to help the rest of Vietnam.

It takes approximately 3.5 hours by bus from Hanoi to Halong Bay, and there are many buses or shuttle buses for the tour from Hanoi to Halong Bay every day, making it easy to catch a suitable vehicle with your budget to go to Halong Bay at any time. When trekking inside Thien Cung Cave, you also should not forget to wear shoes or sandals to avoid getting wet if it rains.
