Ta Prohm Temple overview

Ta Prohm Temple is one of the most well-known temples in the Angkor Temple Complex, Siem Reap, Cambodia. It is particularly impressive due to its antique sightseeing.

Ta Prohm, also known as the “Tomb Raider Temple,” is shrouded in dappled shadow, its crumbling towers and walls locked in the slow muscular embrace of vast root systems.

Ta Prohm, without a doubt the most atmospheric ruin at Angkor, should be on the itinerary of every visitor. Its allure stems from the fact that, unlike the other Angkor monuments, it has been swallowed by the jungle and appears much as the other Angkor monuments did when European explorers first discovered them.

The large trees in the different temple areas of Ta Prohm distinguish this site from any other ancient and famous temple in the world.

Why visit Ta Prohm Temple?

If Angkor Wat is the most famous temple in the Angkor Temple Complex, Ta Prohm Temple is the second most famous temple in this area, so if you have the opportunity to visit Cambodia, you should not miss out on visiting this place.

While exploring Ta Prohm Temple, you will have the opportunity to purchase souvenirs made by the locals who live in the surrounding area. These souvenirs are not expensive, but they are very meaningful for you to give to your friends and family when they return from a memorial trip.

If you visit Ta Prohm Temple during the dry season, even though it is very hot in Cambodia, you will feel very comfortable because this ancient temple is located in the center of a large forest, there are many large trees and shade, and this temple is built entirely of stone, so all of these factors combine to make this temple very cool during the dry/summer season but warm during the wet/raining season.

How to travel to Ta Prohm Temple?

It is about only 12 kilometers away from Siem Reap City, making it very easy, fast, and convenient for tourists to explore the temple by bus, motorbike, or even bike from the center of Siem Reap.

This temple is a quick tuk-tuk ride from Angkor Wat (a tuk-tuk is one of the popular vehicles of locals in Cambodia)
