VIETNAM – CAMBODIA – LAOS – THAILAND – MYANMAR

Vietnam

The Current Covid-19 Updates
Vietnam is now open for international tourists (from March 15th, 2022). All travelers will be able to enter the country without quarantine and will be able to travel freely throughout the country regardless of vaccination status. No pre- or on-arrival Covid testing is required. 

Travel Visa Policy
To begin, travelers’ passports must be valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry into Vietnam.

Vietnam Visa Exemption
With an ordinary passport of the below countries, you can travel to Vietnam without a visa up to:
14 Days for Brunei, Myanmar
15 Days for Belarus, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Norway, Russia, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, and the United Kingdom
21 Days for The Philippines
30 Days for Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand
To stay beyond this number of days, you may apply for a visa extension upon your arrival in Vietnam.

Visa Required
If you are not exempt, you must apply for a Vietnam visa by one of the methods listed hereunder:
•  You can apply for a Vietnam visa at your nearest Vietnam Embassy
•  You can also request that your travel agent or the person organizing your trip to Vietnam obtain a Letter of Visa Approval on your behalf, this service also takes only about 2-3 working days. Then, you present this visa letter, along with your original passport and the visa fee (approximately $25-30 USD), to get a Vietnam Visa on your arrival date at one of three international airports in Ho Chi Minh City, Danang, or Hanoi.

Vietnam E-Visa
 E-visa fee is USD 25 and this fee is paid via the electronic payment gateway owned by the Vietnamese Immigration Department, processing time is 2-3 working days.
•  You will receive your code by email to print your e-visa.
•  Travelers with an e-Visa can go directly to immigration counters at their point of entry and do not need to queue at Visa on Arrival counters.
•  With Vietnam E-visa, you do not need to wait for a visa approval letter or pay a stamp fee at the airport.

Cambodia

The Covid-19 updates
  All travelers no longer need to provide proof of negative Covid-19 PCR test results, or Covid-19 vaccination, or provide a passenger’s health declaration upon arrival in Cambodia. 

  Visitors will be allowed to explore the different regions of Cambodia restriction-free.

Travel Visa policy
To begin, your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry into Cambodia and you must have at least one blank visa page.

Visa Exemption
•  With an ordinary passport of the below countries, you can travel to Cambodia without a visa up to:
30 Days for Malaysia, Laos, Singapore, Vietnam, and Indonesia
14 Days for Thailand
21 Days for The Philippines
•  For all visitors from other countries, the visa has remained valid for 30 days, tourist visa fees are about $30
•  The international airports of Phnom Penh and Siem Reap, as well as the international border inspection station, handle visas.
•  Cambodian visas are accepted at any embassy or consulate in the country.
•  At the immigration office in Phnom Penh, the visa is extended.
•  Cambodians living abroad are eligible for a free visa (visa k).

Cambodia E-Visa
With a few exceptions, nationals of any country can obtain an e-visa.
E-visa is also not available for
  Those who hold diplomatic passports
  Those who hold official passports
  Those who hold spouse or parent-endorsed passports
  Those who hold international travel documents

To obtain an E-visa, you will only need two additional documents:
The biodata page of your passport
A photograph of the applicant
  Cambodia’s E-visa is a government-issued electronic authorization in PDF format
  The E-visa is required to enter Cambodia and travel within the country for tourist purposes.
  The e-visa must be printed and presented at the port of entry.
  When entering Cambodia, an e-visa can only be used once, and you will need to apply again on your next visit.
  You can apply for an e-visa a few days before your trip, so you do not concern as long as your flight departs in more than 72 hours.

If you are flying to Cambodia, E-Visas are accepted at the following entry points:
  Phnom Penh International Airport
  Siem Reap International Airport
  Sihanouk International Airport

If you are traveling overland, you can gain entry through
  Cham Yeam (Koh Kong Province) (from Thailand)
  Poi Pet (Banteay Meanchey Province) (from Thailand)
  Bavet (Svay Rieng Province) (from Vietnam)
  Tropaeng Kreal Border Post (Stung Treang) (from Laos)

E-visa is not yet issued for certain countries
•  Iran, Iraq, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, and Sri Lanka.

Laos

The current COVID-19 updates in Laos
Lao is fully open from May 2022. 

Visa policy in Laos
To begin, a passport valid for at least 6 months is required and you should have at least one blank visa page.

Laos Visa Exemption
With an ordinary passport from the below countries, you can travel to Cambodia without a visa up to
30 Days for Cambodia, Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand, and Singapore
14 Days for Brunei and Myanmar
15 Days for Japan, South Korea, Russia, Switzerland, Luxembourg, and Scandinavian countries (Sweden, Norway, Denmark, and Finland)

Laos Visa On Arrival
•  Visa on arrival in Laos is available at all ports of entry in this country, including international airports and major cities.
•  You should bring two passport-size photos with you if you want to apply for a visa on arrival.
•  Travelers from Africa and the Middle East must apply for Visas in advance.
•  Most nationalities can obtain a visa on arrival in Laos or E-Visa before arrival to Laos, valid for 30 days, including:
EU citizens
Australians
North Americans
•  Visa on arrival is also available at all border checkpoints in Laos: Thailand – Laos

•  Fee for Laos Visa on arrival:  China: US $20
                                         Australia and other countries: US $30
                                         USA and UK: US $35
                                         Canada: US $42

Laos Visa Extension
•  Travelers can extend their visa up to an additional 60 days for about $1 for each day through Immigration Department in Vientiane
•  However, if you extend after the visa expiry date, you will be fined $10 for the days you overstayed
Note: an additional $1 is charged from the overtime fee on weekends, Laos public holidays, and before 8 am and after 4 pm on weekdays.

Thailand

The Covid-19 uppdates in Thailand
Traveling to Thailand from 1 October 2022 onwards: Passengers will no longer be required to present COVID-19-related documents

Visa policy in Thailand
To begin, travelers’ passports must be valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry into Thailand.

Thailand Visa Exemption
•  With an ordinary passport of the below countries, you can travel to Thailand without a visa up to:
90-day visa exemption for Argentina, Brazil, Chile, South Korea, Peru
30-day visa exemption for Germany, Brunei, Andorra, Canada, Australia, Austria, Bahrain, Belgium, Netherlands, Singapore, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Liechtenstein, France, Ireland, Greece, Hong Kong, Hungary, Iceland, Indonesia, Israel, Italy, Japan, Kuwait, Laos, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Macao, Malaysia, Maldives, Mauritius, Monaco, Mongolia, New Zealand, Norway, Oman, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Qatar, Russia, San Marino, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Africa, Spain. Sweden, Switzerland., Turkey, Ukraine, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, United States, and Vietnam.
14-day visa exemption for Cambodia, Myanmar
•  If you want to extend your stay beyond the period that’s allowed you may be able to apply for an extension at the Thai Immigration Bureau office in Bangkok for a fee of 1,900 Thai Baht.
•  You will be fined if you overstay without a formal extension.
•  Overstay fees begin at 500 Thai Baht per day and can reach 20,000 Thai Baht per day if you stay for more than 40 days.

The countries are eligible to get a Thailand Visa on arrival
Bulgaria, Bhutan, People’s Republic of China, Cyprus, Ethiopia, Fiji, Georgia, India, Kazakhstan, Malta, Mexico, Nauru, Papua New Guinea, Romania, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Taiwan, Uzbekistan, Vanuatu

Obtain a Thailand Visa
•  If you are not exempt from a Thailand Visa and are not eligible for a Visa on Arrival or a Thailand Visa Online. You must apply for a Thai visa at a Thai diplomatic mission office (Embassies or Consulates) in your country.

You must do the following:
•  Make an appointment with the Thailand Embassy or Consulate in your country, or the one closest to you, to learn about any specific visa application requirements
  Collect the required documents for a Thai Visa
•  Submit the documents and pay the fee
•  Depending on which Embassy/Consulate you apply to, you can submit the application

In-person
•  Through the post, in which case you have to enclose a pre-paid and self-addressed envelope
  Wait for the application to be processed
  Collect the passport and visa.
  If you applied by mail, they will be mailed back to you.
  If your Thailand Tourist Visa is approved, you have to enter the country within the time stated on your visa.

A Thailand airport transit Visa
Foreigners transiting in a Thai airport do not need to have a Thailand airport transit visa if
•  Their connecting flight is in less than 12 hours
•  Their flight is booked on the same ticket
•  They do not leave the international airport transit area
•  Have the necessary documents for the final destination

Apply for a Thailand Visa online (E-Visa)
For the time being, only citizens of a few countries can apply for Thai visas online: China, the United Kingdom, and France

Myanmar

Visa Policy in Myanmar
To begin, your passport must be valid for at least six months from the date of entry into Myanmar and contain at least one blank visa page.

Myanmar Visa Exemption
•  With a passport from the countries below, you can travel to Myanmar without a visa for up to 30 days.
14 Days for Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, and Myanmar:
30 Days for Singapore
•  The length of stay for a tourist visa in Myanmar is 28 days from the date of arrival.

Visa Processing Fees
•  Tourist Visa (Online) US$ 50.00:  28 days Online
•  Tourist Visa Express (Online) US$ 56.00:  28 days Online
•   Business Visa (Online) US$ 70.00:  70 days Online
Don’t apply for your visa too soon or too late, as it can take up to two weeks to be processed.

E-Visa for Myanmar
•  Tourist e-visas are available to passport holders from over 100 countries.
•  Passengers with an e-visa can enter the country only through three main ports: Yangon, Mandalay, and Nay Pyi Taw International Airport.
