‘Don Village’ means ‘Island Village’, as it is located next to Srepok River. In the central part of the river, there are many floating islands that look like a “miniature Halong Bay” lying among the mountains of the Central Highlands. On the other riverside is Yok Don forest filled with mystery and wild. Don Village has many favorable conditions to exploit both types of tourism: ecotourism and cultural tourism. The Yok Don National Park, which covers more than 100,000 hectares, is a museum of animal and plant life. Don Village is home to many ethnic groups: Ede, M’nong, Gia rai, Laos, Thai, etc. This is a place where elephant hunting and domesticating is the main job of local residents. Don Village has now become one of Daklak’s famous tourist destinations in both domestic and international limit.

This is the Tam Linh Pagoda in Buon Don district, where the Buddha statue with the height of 40 meters is located. In the outside part of the garden, 18 statues of Arhats carved on the stone have the face with a variety of moods and are arranged around the garden. All of the areas are meticulously invested, which forms a vast spiritual space stretching from the foot to the top of the hill. The pagoda is built in an open architecture, so visitors can visit it and see the great forest on two sides of the hill. Tam Linh Hill Tourism Area is one of the most noteworthy spiritual tourist attractions in Dak Lak.

The tomb is located in Don Village’s cemetery, where spiritual culture and religious beliefs of different Tay Nguyen ethnic groups converge. This is also an unmistakable evidence of the formation and development of elephant hunting and domesticating.

Khunjunob’s real name is N’Thu K’nul, born in 1828, was a chief of the tribal peoples and a great contributor to the early development of the elephant hunt. Don Village built his grave in M’nong-Laos architectual style and combined it with cubes, decorated with lotus buds on four corners and peaks to express their gratitude and respect to the dying chief. Yok Don National Park, 40 kilometers from the north-west of Buon Ma Thuot city, is located in the area of four communes and three districts: Krong Na commune, Buon Don district; Ea Bung and Chu M’Lanh commune, Ea Sup district (Dak Lak province) and Ea Pot commune, Cu Jut district (Dak Nong province). This is one of Vietnam’s pristine protected forests. There are 62 species of animals, 196 species of birds, 46 species of reptiles, 13 species of amphibians and 464 species of plants (mostly magnolia). Among 56 species of rare animals in Indochina, Yok Don has 38 species, 17 of which are listed in the Red List.

The wilderness of the mountains and the rich natural vegetation has made this place become a popular eco-tourism site of Dak Lak.

Chu Yang Sin National Park, 60 kilometers from the south-east of Buon Ma Thuot city, has a total area of 59,667 hectares with hilly terrain, including Chu Yang Sin – the highest mount in Dak Lak – with the height of 2.442 meters compared to sea level. There is also rich in number of vegetation and animals. There are many species that have been recorded in the Red List of Vietnam to be preserved. Chu Yang Sin National Park is one of the most adventurous attractions in Dak Lak.

This is the largest natural lake in the Central Highlands reaching the area of about 6.2 square kilometers. It is located in an area being about 56 kilometers from the south of Buon Ma Thuot city along Highway No.27 and next to the road between Buon Ma Thuot and Da Lat. The lake is connected to Krong Ana River whose water surface is always green. The lake is surrounded by high mountains, so the it is always quiet and peaceful. This is an interesting sailing destination for visitors. When sitting in log boats drifting on the river and listening to the echo sound from forests wrapping around, travelers can recall the memories about the past Dam San period.

The waterfall complex Dray Sap – Draynur – Gia Long, on an area of about 1.655 square hectares, appears as a mysterious and extremely pristine watercolor painting. Although it is a complex of waterfalls, you will discover that each waterfall has its own markers and beauty.

Dray Sap waterfall is about 50 meters high and 100 meters long, so the waterfall can be said to be the most beautiful and majestic waterfall in the Central Highlands. Dray Sap waterfall rumbles all day and night on the rocky cliffs to create a rare majesty of this waterfall. The surrounding area is a special-used forest with high biological value.

Dray Nur waterfall is located next to the Dray Sap Waterfall, so tourists just need to cross a short bridge crossing the Serepok River, and then tourists move from the Dray Sap waterfall to Dray Nur waterfall. Both are beautiful and majestic waterfalls. Standing in a far position, you will see that Draynur Falls looks like a giant water wall. Thousands of white foam froth, woven together, knit together to create a beautiful shimmering and fanciful scenery. At the height of more than 30m, the waterfall is cascading down to create a mysterious, natural and poetic painting and hitting the cliffs to create the deep and soft sound.

Being the most majestic waterfall in the system of three waterfalls Dray Sap- Gia Long- Dray Nur, Gia Long waterfall is located in the upstream of the Srepok River passing through Dak Nong province. Immersing in the cool of the water, you can comfortably bath in a ‘awimming pool’ about 80 square meters and discover a beautiful natural cave.

Besides discovering the special-used forest and waterfall’s scenery, you also have the opportunity to mix with the cool blue water at the lake and to enjoy the unique culture of the Central Highlands.

Moving 35 kilometers from Buon Ma Thuot city along Highway 1 to the north-west, visitors come to N’Drech village, Ea Hua commune, Buon Don district. Serepok river flows through it and divides into seven small rivers flowing through large boulders, which forms six small islands among the tributaries. The lake is formed by blocking the Cu Mblim, Ea Chat, Ea Cao and Ea Kni rivers to make irrigation for farming coffee and rice paddy. At June every year, the lake water level is low, revealing the soil tissue, green grass, so it is suitable for tourists to go sightseeing.
