Bai Lu – the “Dalat on the Sea” of Nghe An

With vast pine forests reaching down the sea, Bai Lu is the perfect alternative for Cua Lo- which is a too familiar tourist attractions in Nghe An.

Located on the territory of Nghi Loc district, Nghe An province, 20 km from Cua Lo, Bai Lu is the ideal place for travelers to rest, relax in the fresh air, cool nature. After 4 km of paved road meandering between green rice fields from Highway 1A, you will come to the “Da Lat on the sea” in Nghe An.

The reason for the analogy is that Bai Lu owns immense pine forests stretching out into the ocean. From a distance, Bai Lu appears with winding yellow sand hugging the sea, on one side, it is the water reflected by the sparkling sky, in another one, it is a cool green of the lines of pines. Walking in the canopy of coniferous in the burning hot days makes travelers visiting Bai Lu think of a Dalat among the immense sea.

Nothing seems to be more wonderful than seeing the sunrise over the sea, especially sunrise on Bai Lu. In Bai Lu, the dawn is when the sun rises out of the sea, and a wonderful setting which is a “space” of sails in the sunshine along with the hum of the engine sound, the sound of waves, the sea breeze whispering in the pines spreading creating a “song” of the sea appears.

Bai Lu is the place where the sea encroaches on the land, so the sea water here is so clear that people can see the small pebble on the seabed. According to many studies, water in Bai Lu has a high rate of mineral because of  being located on the sediments of rock, mountains lie close to the sea, so it is good for health. The wave is not too big but breaks gently, along with the sloping sandy beach, you can enjoy playing volleyball, football here. In the late afternoon when the sun falls, relaxing with the rotation of wheels of your bike around dreamy Bai Lu will be a clever choice.

Visiting Bai Lu, you will have two choices. If you have enough money, you can stay in the seaside resorts, otherwise, you can still enjoy in the way of backpackers with many interesting destinations around. First, majestic Lu mountain has stood right next to the sea for thousands of years. Going to the top of the mountain, you can see clearly in the distance Song Ngu island, Mat (Eyes) Island, Lan Chau, and closer to the mainland, they are Hung Linh, Rong (Dragon) Mountain, Lo Mountain, Co (Flag) Mountain, Kiem (Sword) Mountain…

Kenh Sat is also an attractive sight for tourists on the way to Bai Lu. Apart from blue color of dyed by iron ore in Thiet Son Mountain, it also has a temple worshipping Son Than (God of Mountain) and Thanh Mau (Holy Mother), formerly called Ne temple associated with the legend of Ho Quy Ly and Princess Bach Y.

If traveling from Hanoi, you can stop at Cuong Temple where is less than 10 km from Bai Lu. This is a famous sacred temple of Nghe An located on halfway up of Mo Da mountain, close to National Highway 1A, and it is built to worship King An Duong Vuong Church. It is also associated with folk legend where the king was forced to take out the sword to behead My Chau before falling into the sea.

Bai Lu, together with Mo Da mountain, Cuong Temple, Hien door, Kenh Sat have created an eco-tourism and fascinating spiritual complex for visitors coming to Nghe An. Currently, you can move by air, by rail and road to the city of Vinh, and from here, go along National Highway 1A about 20 kilometers north to Bai Lu. With two weekend days, you will have the full experience in the land of Bai Luu, Nghe An.
