Vientiane – Half day City Tour – Buddha Park

Summary of the day:

Our half-day sightseeing tour of Vientiane commences with a visit to Wat Sisaket, the oldest temple standing in Vientiane. This amazing structure features remarkable frescoes and Buddha statues. The following sight is the former royal temple of Haw Pha Kaew, which previously housed the famous Emerald Buddha Image. We also visit the imposing Patouxai Monument well known as Vientiane’s own Arc de Triomphe before continuing to the great sacred structure and symbol of Laos, That Luang Stupa. We also head out of town to see the Buddha Park, a scattered enchanting collection of Buddhist and Hindu sculptures on the Mekong Riverside meadow, near the Friendship Bridge. There are approximately 200 religious images dating back over 500 years, which were created by a mysterious monk spreading his philosophy on life and revealing his ideas about the universe. Admiring the spectacular view over the Mekong River at sunset from one of the riverside bars is a perfect way to finish the day. Overnight in Vientiane

This morning you have the option to continue our tour of Vientiane by bike, we will trek the capital taking in sites such as WatOng Tue, WatInpeng and WatHaisok, the main shopping district and Vientiane’s Central Market, Talad Sao. Returning to the hotel your afternoon is free to relax or take in some more sights of Vientiane and enjoy the sunset over a few drinks on the riverfront. Overnight in Vientiane

Vientiane – Fly to Luang Prabang – Halfday city tour

Summary of the day:

Today, you will have flight to Luang Prabang. Our driver will come and pick you up to the airport. We will see some of the highlights of Luang Prabang including a visit to the Royal Palace Museum, which hosts the city’s oldest temples, the magnificent WatXiengthong with its roof sweeping low to the ground, representing classical Lao architecture, the impressive stupa of WatVisoun and the shrine of WatAham. We end the day by climbing up Mount Phousi to explore the sacred gilded stupa and to enjoy the panoramic view of the city and the sun setting over the Mekong River. Descenting the mountain your will find yourself in the midst of the famous Luang Prabang Night Market, where you can find a unique selection of handmade textiles and handicrafts locally made by both ethnic Lao and hill tribe people surrounding Luang Prabang. Day 5

Luang Prabang – Kuangsi waterfall – Pak Ou Caves

Summary of the day:

After breakfast at the hotel we begin our journey to KuangSii Waterfall stopping along the way to visit the morning Phousi Market, this where all locals of Luang Prabang come to do their daily shopping. You will see a variety of local foodstuffs and products including dried buffalo skin, local tea and saltpeter among the chickens, fish, vegetables and fruit, everything needed for daily life in Laos. On arrival at the KuangSii Falls you will have the opportunity to cool off with a refreshing swim in the topaz pools below the falls, walk along the forest trails and visit the Bear Sanctuary. You will also enjoy a picnic lunch below the falls. Upon return to Luang Prabang we board our private boat for a pleasant and scenic cruise up on the Mekong River to the mysterious Pak Ou Caves. These caves are an ancient pilgrimage site and contain thousands of gold lacquered Buddha images left there over hundreds of years. Returning to Luang Prabang we disembark our boat and have the option of taking a short drive to Ban Phanom, a village famous for its hand weaving or returning to the hotel for free time to relax. Day 6

Luang Prabang – Elephant Village - Tad Sae Waterfall Boat Trip – Depature

8:00 am – 8:30 am: Pick up by our English speaking guide from your hotel lobby. Arrival at the Elephant Village Camp: Welcome greeting by our camp manager and participate in a short briefing about elephants. Ride the Elephant: Enjoy the impressive experience of a 3 km elephant ride on the howdah (elephant seat) or on your elephant’s neck! 2 per elephant. Boat trip to the Tad Sae Waterfall: Ride in a traditional Lao long boat to the Tad Sae Waterfall and relax or swim in the clear water (swim suit recommended!). Lunch: Dine at our Elephant Camp restaurant. Buffet lunch served with coffee / tea and drinking water (vegetarian options are available) Depart: Transfer back to your hotel at Luang Prabang to prepare for your next flight.
