My Lai overview
My Lai is a small hamlet in Son My village, Quang Ngai Province, where a massacre occurred on March 16, 1968, during the Vietnam War, killing 503 people, including adults, women, and children. The ragged and horrific framework of this conflict has returned to the evidence precinct of My Lai today.
My Lai features
When you arrive at this site, you will see some houses that have been restored to show about a wicked war that killed some whole families, some families have had up to five people killed at the same time, and then the American army burned down their houses, such as the house of Mr. Do Ky, whose entire family had five members killed together at the same time.
Hundreds of tourists gather here every day to light incense at the tragedy memorial. After the massacre, a barren country landscape appeared beyond the university.
Here, there is also a well-known museum where images of the American troops, which killed a number of locals in this town at the time, are kept. Along with these photographs, there are models depicting the atrocities committed by the American soldiers.
